Jack Daniels Distillery was registered in 1866 by Mr. Jack Daniel in Lynchburg (Pop. 361), Tennessee. Jack Daniel settled in "the hollow" where the distillery still stands today because of its good source of pure water. The Cave Spring that Jack used then is still used today: it flows year round at 56⁰ Fahrenheit. But, most important it's pure water is iron free, a quality that's essential for making fine Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel Tennessee Whiskey is charcoal-mellowed - drop by drop - through ten feet of hard maple charcoal. This charcoal-mellowing process is used to make Jack Daniel smooth sippin' Tennessee Whiskey the same old-fashioned way it has always been made in the hills of Tennessee.
